 MIURART VILLAGE

The Miura Gallery of Fine Art at Miurart Village features unique clay-based "Miurart" engravings of Miura Company's founder, the late Tamotsu Miura (1928-1996) and similar works of artists who shared Mr. Miura's "art spirit," as well as artwork that he had collected over the years. There are also special exhibits which are held several times a year.
The late Mr. Miura was a businessman, but he was also a creator, and he took his art very seriously. A prolific artist in his own right with a profound interest in Japanese classical culture, he even performed in Noh dramas and occasionally held tea ceremonies that included some of his own creations. He especially loved fine pottery, assembled an extensive collection of pieces and materials, and dedicated himself to his own works.
So pioneering was he that in his final year, work was begun on Miurart Village, a center for art and cultural activities and for exhibits of his art, which connoisseurs had christened "Miurart." Although he did not live to see the completion of the project, his spirit lives on in Miurart Village.
