Miura Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, President: Yuji Takahashi), Japan’s leading manufacturer of small once-through boilers, has announced the establishment of a sales company in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as the European base for its ship machinery business.
1. Purpose of the new company
In 2012, Miura opened a representative office in Rotterdam, the Netherlands for its ship machinery business. The office conducted sales to European shipowners, as well as providing maintenance and support for ships in the European region, and marketing Miura’s ballast water management system. The European and the Middle Eastern regions account for more than 40% of worldwide commercial marine transportation. In order to enter this region in earnest, Miura has moved its base from Rotterdam to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, establishing Miura Netherlands B.V. on November 1, 2014. This creates a base of Miura at the center of the Eurozone.
The new company will expand sales of the ballast water management system that goes on sale this month, as well as Miura’s auxiliary boilers, exhaust gas economizers, thermal oil heaters, fresh water generator, incinerators and other products. The company will also provide maintenance and after-sales service for shipboard equipment. The establishment of our first sales company in Europe takes Miura’s globalization to a new level and reinforces our operating base in Europe.
